Mexico City Layover Package

When planning your stay at Playa Viva you may find that flight times are not optimal and you have a long layover in Mexico City, pre or post your stay with us. Rather than hang out in the airport for hours, stay in Mexico City (CDMX) and explore Mexico’s cultural capital in style. Playa Viva has teamed up with luxury Hotel Las Alcobas to create a wonderful Mexico City experience for you. So stay a night or two, and enjoy both Playa Viva and Mexico City. It may be easier to book two round trip tickets, one from your point of origin to MEX (Mexico City Airport) and back, and a second from MEX to ZIH (Zihuatanejo Ixtapa International Airport for Playa Viva).

Working with our partners at Las Alcobas hotel and their owner, General Manager, and Concierge, we have come up with five excellent packages for you to enjoy Mexico City, including room upgrades, breakfast, wonderful meal recommendations, and special experiences, so that you are treated like a VIP from the moment you land at the airport and are picked up by the hotel's Black Car Service, until the moment you are back at the airport on your way to enjoy Playa Viva.

One of the greatest inheritances of the Pre-Hispanic cultures in Mexico is the way commerce is handled. The markets in Mexico still preserve this magic of selling vegetables, meat, poultry, and everyday goods.
We have arranged a market experience so that you may discover these amazing local sites. We start at the Merced where most of Mexico City’s inhabitants come for fresh ingredients for their day's meal at the cheapest price available. If you are a food adventurer there are many unique flavors for you to try here. The next market on the list is Sonora. This is perhaps the most interesting of them all. Sonora's halls are filled with Piñatas, stuffed teddy bears, food, animals, saints, and witchcraft artifacts.

Coyoacán, Frida, Markets Experience

Suggested starting time: 9:00 am
Duration:
5 hours
Cost: $160 USD + VAT (entrance tickets are not included)
Additional hourly cost: $35 USD + VAT

Coyoacán was at first a small colonial town. Due to the growth of the city, it is now considered a neighborhood.
The area has a rich history. Cortes' wedding to his first indigenous wife was hosted in Coyoacán. Many convents and forts have been built here over the years. Frida and Diego lived and loved together in this neighborhood, and Trotsky lived and died here as well. Now it is a beautiful residential area. The “historic center” is where locals go for a fun weekend night out. During the day the historic center is a venue for walking around, tasting coffee, eating, and having lunch with the family.

You will visit Frida’s home, the central plaza of Coyoacán, a beautiful traditional market, and if you are hungry you can try a traditional quesadilla and other Mexican “antojitos”

We know you love coffee so our guide will take you to El Jarocho coffee shop, where they sell coffee from Veracruz. There will be also a stop at a famous “nevería” (ice cream shop) that is a staple in Coyoacan and a must!

Teotihuacan Experience, The Place Where A Man Becomes A God.

Duration:
5 - 9 hours
Cost of car and driver: $135 USD + VAT
Cost of hot air balloon: $400 USD + VAT

You will fly in a hot air balloon over the ruins of a great Mesoamerican city.

If you decide to tour the site after the flight, you will experience the most important city of prehispanic times. Teotihuacan is believed to be the first city to build mass pyramids. Its architectonic splendor influenced the future cultures of the Mayans, Mexicas, and the cultures of the Gulf of Mexico.
Be sure to save some energy to visit the breathtaking pyramid of Quetzalcoatl on the opposite end of the site. The detail on the pyramid is absolutely amazing!
