"Playa Viva was a PERFECT destination for our honeymoon. The whole week we were saying, "I can't believe this. This is exactly what we had dreamed." Everything about it was great and we are continuing to rave to others: the location, the architecture, the food, the activities, and your OUTSTANDING staff. We loved getting to know Johnny, Julia, and Aavi throughout the week; beautiful people. We also love the philosophy behind the place: locally grown food, local workers, and supporting local farms (the family up in the mountains). All of which are near to our hearts. Thank you for everything!"

Turtle Sanctuary
Our Turtle Sanctuary was founded to protect turtles from predators and poachers. The sanctuary is staffed by an all-volunteer team of local residents who have named the sanctuary "La Tortuga Viva", or "The Living Turtle", and receive training and minimal support from SEMARNAT, the Mexican Department of Environmental Protection. The operation of La Tortuga Viva is a labor of love. >  Read More

Archaeological Site
Early in the discovery process, we made a remarkable find-- an archeological site within the property boundaries of Playa Viva! We are promoting initiatives that will research and restore the site for future generations to explore and learn from.  Read More

Estuary
Playa Viva sits at a meeting point between saltwater and freshwater systems. This convergence of ecosystems enables a symbiotic exchange and transformation of resources. The estuary's plants, crustaceans, mollusks, fish and microorganisms all work to clean, transform and refine waste into high-quality nutrients for the estuary's plant life which, in turn, acts as a home, breeding ground and nursery for thousands of fish and bird species.

Ocean
Playa Viva has over 1.2 km, (about .75 miles) of beach front. While many resort beaches are polluted by nearby cities, Playa Viva is remote enough to enjoy some of the cleanest ocean water in the region. In addition to the sea turtles that come here to lay their eggs, the ocean is teeming with life. It's not uncommon to spot breaching whales or dolphins playing in the surf. Our wide, sandy beaches are ideal for swimming and walking barefoot.
