Regenerative Practices | Regenerate
Every aspect of our operations goes beyond low-impact. We'll continue to update as environmental technology advances and our understanding of our environment grows. We will be building to the highest environmental standards, and pursuing LEED Certification, the nationally accepted benchmark for design, construction, and operation of high-performance green buildings.

"We had a great time and were impressed with many aspect of Playa Viva (we also liked Casa Viva). Your efforts at sustainability were admirable and we were especially interested in your connections to the local community. As a measure of our "afterglow" we would like to bring our family down to celebrate Linda's 60th birthday same time next year. We would also like to include a day of community service (at the school or wherever you think)."

All aspects of resort operations are being designed to go beyond low-impact and will be continually updated as environmental technology advances as well as our understanding of how to live and interact with the place. Our buildings will be built to the highest environmental standards and in the process we have decided to pursue Accreditation under the LEED standards, the nationallyaccepted benchmark for the design, construction, and operation of high-performance green buildings. We are currently pursuing Platinum LEED rating. Activities in this area include:

  • Tree house design that strengthens ecosystem and provides a unique and rich living experience.
  • Edible landscape of organic gardens provide beauty and nourishment.
  • Waste materials which will be repurposed into organic matter for the Playa Viva permaculture farm.
  • Playa Viva marine and land adventures will be conservationdriven.
  • Teselated building design create natural air conditioning.
  • Natural and local products will be used in building, maintenance and cleaning.
  • Alternate energy, such as renewable wind power and use of biodiesel will be leveraged where possible.
  • Buildings will be oriented and designed for passive cooling and maximize airflow.

Regeneration goes beyond LEED, beyond sustainable, it is about constantly making the whole place better, the living systems stronger and entire ecology more resilient.
