Title
Action and Adventure | Snorkeling, Scuba, Spear Fishing
Snorkeling and scuba diving is available through a local tour operator in Zihuatanejo. You can also snorkel in the ocean right in front of Playa Viva and see lots of sea life, however it is open ocean so swim with a buddy. As a special bonus, we can pair you with a local spear fisherman who can teach you how to catch your dinner.

"We could not have imagined a better vacation for ourselves and two 16 year olds girls. My daughter came home from her first day back at school yesterday, looked around and said "everything seems so pointless if you can't go to the beach." I think she was responding to the deep sense of purpose and commitment that is so present at playa viva. We were fortunate enough to be part of the release of 67 just hatched baby turtles to the sea. (LIterally be part of, hold them in our hands!) It was a connection to the greater scale of life that is ever present in the world, but that we generally perceive only superficially. Yes, it's an incredibly beautiful, peaceful, quiet place with the most welcoming staff and community one can imagine. Yes it has delicious food served in a lovely outdoor setting with pride and graciousness. Yes, its right on the ocean, with cool breezes and an open feeling that is immediately restorative. But in addition, it is a place that is actively involved in doing something important and something good for the guests, the community and the land. We weren't even to the airport when we each were wondering how we could come back."

Snorkeling Boat Tour - Take a boat from the beautiful Zihuatanejo bay to a remote coral reef with calm waters, a white sand beach and plentiful aquatic life. No snorkeling experience is necessary, your guide, Paco, will be in the water with you giving tips and pointing out the wonders below. Facemasks, flippers and lifejackets will be provided, as well as water and juice. The boat is covered, so those sensitive to the sun will have plenty of shade. After visiting the coral reef, the boat will tour the perimeter of the Zihuatanejo bay, where you’ll find great views of La Ropa Beach and the city of Zihuatanejo. At your option, we can stop in town for lunch and enjoy a few cold cervezas

Meet Your Guides: Paco was born and raised in Zihuatanejo, and currently runs a scuba diving and snorkeling shop called Adventure Divers, in La Madera Beach. He is a certified scuba instructor and has extensively explored the depths of Guerrero’s coast line. As a fluent English speaker with an amazing knowledge of local aquatic life, Paco can’t help but turn his snorkeling adventures into a lesson in ocean biodiversity.
