Building
green is about doing less damage and building sustainably means doing net zero damage. Playa Viva takes it one step further with a regenerative approach, aimed to improve the health of living systems.
Playa Viva is working to restore the land's flora and fauna, which has been squandered over the last century. Our long-term goal is to revitalize and nurture local natural resources and the community, so they thrive in harmony and continually improve.
The landscape, once a coastal forest destroyed by 'slash and burn' agriculture, has been replaced by coconut, mango and tamarind groves. Playa Viva is committed to restoring 80% of our land to coastal forest and wetland, bringing back mangroves, beautiful hardwood trees and a variety of indigenous flora and fauna. We are working to create more energy than we use, cleaner water and
building with sustainable, local materials. We are implementing infrastructure systems that minimize waste while providing economic sustainability to the area.
When you visit Playa Viva, you're making a conscious commitment to the regeneration of a happy and healthful eco-social, living system.
