Culture & Community
When we explore other communities, we don't just learn about new and different ways to approach life - we further clarify our individual connection to the world, and to one another. Playa Viva honors this delicate connection to place, by protecting the land and surrounding culture. Come grow and explore through sustainable relationships to people and place.

People

History
Juluchuca has a rich and lengthy history. Pottery shards found on the property tell us that people lived here at least 1200 years ago. The people inhabiting the Costa Grande, or the region around Juluchuca, were called the Cihuatecas. While little is known about these people, it is likely that they were influenced by both Olmec and Mayan civilizations, and later the Aztecs.  Read More

Lifestyle
For those of you lucky enough to have travelled to Mexico—or, better yet, Zihuatanejo, you know the effortless approach to life found in this special place. It is reflected in the colors, vegetation, water, and people. The cloudless sky. The breeze that both cools and warms. Most of all, it is reflected in the clear smile on your face the moment you arrive. Please join us in the protection of Mexico's rich cultural and natural heredity at Playa Viva.
