We have also identified trash and garbage disposal as a major environmental and health issue for the community (see video)and have begun to partner with larger corporations to provide recycling programs, recycling education in schools and an economic incentive to recycle and more responsible garbage management processes. The practice of burning garbage is common in Mexico. With the addition of plastics and PET bottles to the mix, burning garbage can contribute significant dioxins to the groundwater and air pollutants. These recycling and education programs will significantly contribute to increase health and well being of the community and ecosystem.

All of these projects take time, resources and commitment. We invite you to join us in supporting these activities, identify new activities and create your own programs for engaging and supporting the local community. As you return to Playa Viva year after year, you will enjoy the growing connection to the people and land surrounding the Playa Viva community.

Common Areas

  • Randolph_Langenbach_Common_Area_Poolside_HiRes

START HERE _ DL ) The common area contains the kitchen, dining room, pool and yoga deck plus an outdoor theater for enjoying movies under the stars, a bon fire area for romantic evenings or ghost stories and smores. It is here that you will most likely spot a breaching whale, dolphins surfing the waves, play dominoes with Playa Viva team members and watch the pelicans dive for fish.

The Common Areas also include the Observatory which has a dual purpose both serving as a "sleeping porch" to accommodate overflow sleeping capacity when rented by large groups or serving as the best place to get a massage. Playa Viva has hosted large groups for workshops and seminars, company retreats and special family occasions.

What To Expect

  • YOGA: We will have two yoga classes a day including stronger Vinyasa style classes, sensual hip openers, hatha yoga, and relaxing restorative classes, all with great attention to alignment and helpful adjustments.
  • MINDFULNESS: Aside from guided meditation time, we will be encouraging and supporting women to hold a continuous space of mindfulness throughout the retreat. This simply means holding themselves and all around them with great respect and compassion ~ always recognizing the Divine Feminine within.
  • EDUCATION: Through sacred ceremony and ritual and insightful lectures, we provide a deeply reflective and educational five days so that women can take the wisdom they gain home with them. On November 1st, we will take part in a very special Temazcal (native sweat lodge) ceremony.
  • FUN: Aside from a powerful week with amazing women, participants are surrounded by opportunities to surf, snorkel, hike, visit the nearby turtle sanctuary, swim and simply just enjoy being together.
